The walk seemed endless

and winding

like their thoughts

confused in events

that soared in triumph

and lay dead in defeat –

or so it seemed.

The stranger

walked into their talk

seemingly unaware

of the happenings,

yet stirring their hearts

to a new awareness

of blessing

and breaking bread

and sharing the wine

of remembrance.

Joy knew no bounds now

as they raced

toward Jerusalem

to share

the good news.
