Forgiving Mother
I waited for the beholdness in your eyes
and waited
until transference seemed the wiser template,
replicating relationships built on sand.
Feeling your limitations as a child was one thing
accepting them later, quite another.

Do all of us know
the grace of “in giving we receive”?
I meet the pain of your absence
seeing I am object of your limitation
both of us looking into the pit
reflecting there my-face-in-yours-in-mine.
Yielding to the emerging Template
of a heart made of flesh
I receive
the gift of giving you the warmth of an embrace.
