Well,

     you’re not the only person around here.

Hell,

     you’re not the only species….

My niece, 12 years old,

phones up last night

to tell me about her project

in science class

on Lepidoptera

     (What’s that?

        Look it up. 

          I had to.)

which meant dissecting

a caterpillar.

When she got past gross

and poked around inside

the big, fat crawler

she discovered

–you won’t believe it!—

it’s tummy

       was all full

            of butterflies.
