March in Eastern Ontario

We watch winter white dazzle,

as the sunlight dances

on another twenty centimetres

of fresh, fluffy snow.

‘Ides of March’ winds cause

chapped lips and cheeks

in need of protection.

Spring is nearing,

and this blanket of winter white

will soon melt to reveal

 those struggling crocus buds.

Winter in Canada requires

patient endurance and

seasonal courage,

to smile…

in spite of our weather
