I stop on the stepping stones
to an awareness
of the great I AM,
and I, a molecule
in the vast universe.
The key turns slowly
unlocking treasures
as God’s breath kisses me
and I swing into
the rhythm of the dance of love.
Searching for Jesus,
I find him
walking patiently beside me
listening, understanding,
opening my eyes,
as a cocktail of thoughts
scampers by in confusion.
A moment of grace
lights up the mountain top
of my transfiguration
till I walk down
from a cloud of unknowing
into an ordinary world.
The cocooning caterpillar
takes flight
as a fragile butterfly
waving its wings
in a whirlwind of wonder,
and the thread of memory
is now a melody
played on a violin of sweet sounds
descending and ascending
on currents of air.

Posted at 23:49h, 21 JulyThe imagery you evoke draws me into a contemplation of the Transfiguration on the mountaintop – humanity in its fragility permitted a foretaste of divinity through the wonders of creation. Your poem is just breathtaking and one of your best, Viola!
