2019: Hopefully a Meditative Year

You’ve smelled the hay,
you’ve heard the bray
of beasts
who teach saints to pray
that every body is a temple
rebuilt holy in three days.
Before you lose these first sensations,
learn to practice incarnation.

The flesh is weak
or so they teach,
and we who study
miss the beat,
then noise our sacred music
soon defeats.
We deflate our inspiration
when we fail to practice incarnation.

So taste and see;
just let it be;
breathe the Holy Trinity—
Air, Trust, and Lungs,
alive in loving unity.
The kingdom comes in respiration.
Practice faithful incarnation.

The end is nigh;
feel it sigh
on your neck as you stand by
seated watching the stream
of When and Why.
There is peace, not resignation
if you practice incarnation.
