A Generation Ago

“Quit living in the past!” they say.
But what about the unredeemed past?
Waiting to come up from under the ground
buried under emotions of fear - unaware -
afraid  the fear will name me
and I will be ashamed.

Go back!
Let the arrows fly by you
as you tremble in fear
and sit.

Now look at her
and see beyond her fears.
Dig
submerged under the years of darkness
unearthed.
Air, light, water, words (time)
I forgave you
yes, years ago.
But there is more:
I remember your pain
your source of fear
worn on your sleeve.
There is more to unearth.
Air, light, water, words unspoken
are now uttered while reclaiming the bond
I can not keep it in:
I speak my love for you.

“Fear is not a life sentence but a gift. Part of the gift only lives when it is shared.”

A lovely sharing. Fear is one of life’s barriers that holds lives back (individually and collectively). Seeing it as a gift when shared, is a wonderful moment of learning. Thank you Grace.
