Pentecost – 2015

Please don't cry.

We'll start again.

With a different Spirit.

New wind in the sails.

Everything we once fought about

now we'll fight to change.

A chance to breathe

a breath redeemed.

We had grown so shallow

together

we almost ran out of air.

But don't cry.

Something's clicked;

the fire's lit;

and the seven gifts

just delivered

are waiting to be opened.

Tears and tarry mascara

have marred our cheeks;

now a different Spirit,

a gentle Spirit,

a breezy Wisdom

has come to renew the face

(teaching us again to give

without taking

what isn't offered,

to learn to love the limits first

that would define us,

then to love the perfect way

they intertwine)

Earth,

please don't cry.

We'll start again.

A different Spirit

will give us the words

of tenderness

that for all these years

were so hard for us to say.
