The building of

                                                            the lakeside cottage was

                                 completed by fall but

                                          the path curving

                                 through brush and cottonwood

                                              to the seawall was

                                                        traced in winter’s snow

                                              stamped out and left until

                                                crushed limestone could be

                                                            dumped and spread in

                                                                        spring as the snow 

                                                melted though on the

                                                            lake the ice still lay

                                                                        three

                                                                        feet

                                                                        thick
