Pilgrims’Progress: Journal Entries from a 60th Anniversary Pilgrimage – #1

On August 15, 2019, thirteen Canadian Jesuits will note their 60th Anniversary as members of the Society of Jesus.  Two members of this group – Charlie Pottie Pate, SJ and David Eley, SJ  – have chosen to make a special pilgrimage to mark the occasion.  They have graciously agreed to share their journal entries and photos with igNation which will post them once or twice a week.

Dear family members and friends,

To celebrate our 60th Anniversary in the Society of Jesus (August 15, 1959), David Eley sj and I are doing a pilgrimage to the Scandinavian countries to visit our Jesuit and Ignatian ministries there and their cultural settings – in Denmark,, Norway, Sweden and Finland.

We will finish with our annual retreat at a Trappist monastery northwest of London, England.  We will be en route from June 6 to July 4.

I will try to send a regular (if possible, daily)  review of our day.

Feel free to share this with other mutual friends who might be interested.  Please note my change of email address: cpottie@jesuits.org

And please pray for us.

Charles Pottie Pate, SJ, is the Prairie and Rockies regions Ecclesial Assistant for CLC. He resides at St. Mary's Cathedral Rectory, Calgary.
