Whom Have I nailed to a Tree

The Good Friday hymn “Were you there when they nailed him to a tree” evokes strong images of crucifixion. If we aren’t discerning we might think we have no responsibility in this murder.

Upon closer examination as Christians we come to realize our individual and collective sin. Recently the thought crossed my mind that if I don’t let go and forgive, I’m keeping the unforgiven on the cross.

Of course in my life I have also felt nailed to a tree. But what is Jesus asking me to do? Was I there when they nailed Him to a tree? Were you?
