It's a riot
ha-ha
birdsong beating back
the grey plexi-glass shields of shock troops
sent out by the failing state
of night to put down
a dawning revolution
but only light
and liberated skies
wide open like idealized democracy
will quiet the winged mob
up in arms
even without them
thank God
someone's out there, early morning,
fighting for freedom
of musical expression
while the rest of us
dream about dreaming
something in common…
a lucid forest
with towering green monuments
in honor of the many birds
who so heroically carried the day.
