Let’s play a game
you say,
just a regular game,
going up the ladders
and down the snakes.
Well, sure, why not,
it’s harmless fun,
not like the real games
people play,
perpetually punctuating lives
with skillful throws of the dice.
The score in pursuit of trivia
is far removed
from the scrabble of words
and devious actions,
the cloak and dagger games
you know,
or those waiting games
that stretch endlessly,
with the monopoly
sitting with Boards of directors
subtly fuelling the fire
of impatience.
