A January Morning Thought

Courtesy of the author.
And so O Lord you give me another day
to meet you again in minutiae of morning routine:
Early ablutions, prayer, raisin bran breakfast,
Clearing snow, scraping ice from the windshield,
A ‘morning’ nod to the man waiting for his ‘fix’
from the apartment ‘pusher’ across the street,
Hoping for all lights to green, the drive
up Maryland, Stafford to Corydon street
All to offer Mass at Saint Ignatius once again,
yes,  Lord, where You are each day happily the same.

Frank Obrigewitsch, SJ, is pastor of St. Ignatius parish in Winnipeg.

So comforting in the ordinary day, in different ways repeated by each of us…God is here, thank you !

Happy memories of my winters in Winnipeg in the 1950s as St Ignatius was my parish then.

Thank you, Frank! Your poem reminds me of Nouwen’s words that each day is a gift from God who can’t wait to see us unwrap it!
