An Unexpected Grace
An unexpected grace I have received during the COVID 19 restrictions on religious services is the discovery of the daily Mass on EWTN. Previously I had avoided this television channel.
Although I am a priest, I do not celebrate the Eucharist alone at home. So I turned to EWTN and discovered its fine liturgical music and well prepared and thoughtful homilies.
Yet again, I have learned the truth of Herbert Spencer’s comment much loved by those of us in Alcoholics Anonymous:
“There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance – that principle is contempt prior to investigation.”
