Come Let Us Adore Him

Source: youtube.com
In a sacred hush
sleepy shepherds suddenly
shaken awake
by a splendid sky
herald angels afloat in glory
touching down in shafts of light.

Silence is interrupted
by melodious sounds
sending sheep scrambling
into surrounding shadows.

Gloria in excelsis deo
is a ribbon of song
rippling in the cold night air
while the wind freely flows
in moonlight magic.

The message of the Messiah’s birth
turns fear into
the joy of discovery
as their steps hasten to
a little town called Bethlehem.

An extraordinary scene
meets simple folk
agog with a smiling baby
in swaddling clothes
cradled in a lowly manger.

Dropping to my knees
in humble adoration
I touch love gently unfolding
listening to a newborn’s gurgle
in a straw filled stable.

The glow of joy
circles around me
celebrating the day
when heaven came to earth.

Another beautiful poem, Viola! I especially love the last two lines ‘celebrating the day when heaven came to earth’ the most beautiful gift to mankind.
