A Dose of Hope

Source: grandinmedia.com

While the American election received much attention on the media these past weeks, for those associated with the Knights of Columbus an even more important event was the beatification of its founder.- Michael McGivney.

For them that far surpasses any other thing. What a wonderful celebration of hope! The beatification is a light for the hearts of those who may be despondent about politics and pandemics.

If you haven’t had a chance to immerse yourself in it, go to the Knights’ website and watch the beatification liturgy using the link at the end of this post.   It is long but the beauty of the cathedral, the music, the liturgy, the image of youthful Blessed Michael unveiled, the poignant scene of little Mikie bringing the reliquary with his family to present it to the cardinal all make it a moving and wonderful experience.

Take time also to watch the video of Blessed Michael McGivney’s life  – see the link below – which includes the account of the miracle that brought about his beatification.  These are so inspiring and a dose of hope for all caught in the mire of our present travails.   It is an early Christmas gift!

Treat yourself to this hope!  Or if you have already done so, do it again!

Michael McGivney was an excellent person who did a great deal of good. However, I wish he had named his organization after someone other than Columbus. Columbus might have been Catholic, but he and his men certainly didn’t behave in a charitable manner to the Indigenous people they encountered in the Americas. They destroyed them and their culture. Isn’t it time to own up to this fact?

It’s good to check your history on this. Beware of fake information.
