Holy Boldness

Source: therivercoshocton.com
In order to be efficient,
In order to produce fruits both lasting and magnificent,
Boldness needs not be presumptuous
But needs be simply and quietly hopeful.

Holy boldness is about stepping out with confidence
And moving forward with the heart open to God’s grace.
It’s about stepping out of our fears
It’s about trusting in the Lord one step at a time, and whatever the step.

When faith carries our steps
Onto the unknown grounds of the future,
Our fears are transformed
Into confident determination full of hope.

Holy boldness gets us moving strongly
With the very confidence that if we keep
Taking action and trusting despite the uncertainties of the present,
We will be led to lasting and abundant fruits.

Thank you for defining this holy boldness with examples for our everyday living, especially in these uncertain troubled times. Pope Francis in his exhortation to holiness, ‘Guadete et Exsultate’ refers to this boldness as ‘parrhesia’ stating that “It is a seal of the Spirit, joyful assurance that leads us to glory in the Gospel we proclaim.” 132. Christ’s words, “Do not be afraid” encourage us to move forward with confidence at this time of waiting we call Advent.

It is so hard at times to act with non presumptuous boldness – your poem gives me strength and you have captured it so well.

Thanks, as always, Dodzi, for your reflections. I love the phrase Holy Boldness. It’s connected with a great deal of words from scripture and saintly people. I pray that you are engaged with the Advent season.

Merci beaucoup Dodzi pour ton beau texte. Ton texte m’a fait penser à la Petite Thérèse. Que d’audace dans sa “petite voie”!
Qu’elle nous aprenne à agir et à faire confiance
