Autumn on The Lake

Source: torontostar.com
O still horizon
bordering a nearly same-still lake
reflecting the thousands twinkling stars
of the sun’s rays
on its minute waves.
Unswaying branches rim the foreground
bared by leaves all fallen
sheltering the occasional bird
delightfully flitting here and there.
The air soundless but for a dog’s bark
and the geese’s feet touching the water
as they hover.
O still horizon,
do you hold an answer?
Only remove the question
and open your hands.
