Yet Another Name

Scratch YHWH
The name for God today
is WD40:
She assuages rigid hinges;
She soothes squeaky bitching;
She liberates paralyzed locks;
Ceased gears She loosens up.
Seeping somehow into the clinched
plenum of metallic dogma,
She opens motions.
Praise and honour be
to WD40,
our God Redeemer,
who all our tightness
under knowing fingers
liquidly messages.

Greg Kennedy, SJ works as a spiritual director at the Ignatius Jesuit Centre in Guelph, Ontario. He is author of Reupholstered Psalms volumes I, II, and III; and Amazing Friendships between Animals and Saints (Novalis Press).

    With the temporary closure of the retreat house you seem to be doing a lot of manual work, Greg. Yes, WD 40 is almost all powerful. Recently I even used it on the zipper of my winter coat. It worked! The smell only lasted briefly.

    For those SS (stubborn, stoic) characters, can you recommend a WD40? 🙂

    Thanks Greg,
    May the lubricating purgative powers of WD40 polish up the Tetragrammaton!
