Conspiracy

Keep silent--
the conspiracy ain’t yet blown.
In the bowels of satellites the plot churns
and at the appointed tock every cell phone
in every purse and every pocket will trumpet together.

As in Jericho for Joshua the walls will fall
pushing up dust in a blooming plume of praise
like mushrooms slowly charging through the leafy
rubble of the rain-polished floor.

Then chant you your liturgies and holy slogans
full-throated, in full sun, with full orchestra;
have you your children sing psalms to remember;
then run through all resistance right up to the sapphire studded hilt.

GLORY! GLORY! GLORY!

But as for now keep silence.
Mute your devices.
If they tremble in your purses or your pockets,
take it as a test to prove how calmly you react.
Look the other way.  Breathe it out.
