Just came across today the afghan
crocheted some thirty years ago.
My mother’s hands were never still
busily always making things.

Her craft, much like her way of life,
took what was close at hand,
Colours, textures, materials,
to fashion something new, unique.

Though she’s gone for fifteen years
somehow her knitting still nurtures
in me whom she loved into life
peace, warmth, and ever grateful joy.
