” In 2019, I’d like ,

In 2019, I’d like to see beauty in yesterdays. One of the books I read in 2018 was “The Jesuit Guide to (Almost) Everything: A Spirituality for Real Life” by James Martin,SJ.

The expression “beautiful yesterdays” comes from this book. As Martin reported, following an experience of the Jesuit exam with a group that he introduced to the exam, one person in the group said: “I never knew that my yesterday was so beautiful”.

I easily related myself to that kind of unexpected feeling, and fascinating amazement.

We all have experienced how it can be challenging sometimes or some days to see beauty in life in general or in our own lives, especially through our struggles. And it can be comforting and refreshing to notice that simply practicing the exam can lead us to see the hidden beauties in our lives.

In 2019, I’d practice openness of mind through the daily exam, and allow myself to see the unexpected and disarming beauty in my days.
