I didn’t know how to tackle this prompt.  I was going back and forth. Then I had a conversation with someone about whom I care very much.  In many cases, he is right to say we are on different pages, yet we continue to be in each other’s lives.

The conversation that we had reminded me that what one wants or politely would like tends never to happen. And further to that, expectations that one may have never seem to come to fruition. Simply, it is better to let life take you where it will.

We can hope for the best, but if I think of what I would like in 2019, inevitably something will go awry.

So, in 2019, I would like to keep the Arabic phrase – “inshallah – if God wills it” in my mind. Letting life come at you with new and exciting things is better than worrying about meeting expectations that you know will be dashed.
