The Unknown Saint
Unknown to us
Unknown to the litany of Saints
Unknown to the calendar of Saints
But known to God only.
It is the grandmother who taught us honesty
And the dad who inspired us with his integrity.
Their souls joined the crowd of the unknown Saints
And they pray for us daily.
It is the beggar at the corner of the street
And the grandfather who taught us to give and forgive.
It is the mother who gives it all for the children
And provides for their life, care and needs… daily.
It is the nurse who works with dedication
The teacher who impresses good character in the young minds
The son, the daughter who take care
Of their ailing parents … dearly.
It is the unknown artist
The writer or spiritual advisor
Whose artwork, quotes or wise words
Healed the wounded minds … gently.
It is the Good Samaritan
The simple citizen who understands deeply
The hardship and loneliness
Of the vulnerable hardworking stranger.
It is the friend
Who came
To help
In the middle of the night.
The simplicity of their daily actions
The purity at the heart of their values
The beauty of their smile
The light of love in their eyes …
Their unselfishness in the middle of the struggles
And their desire to overcome the struggles
Connect with the God of everyday who knows
The unknown Saints departed or still amongst us.

Posted at 16:34h, 08 NovemberThank you Dodzi! Nicely done- many who are gone before us are enjoying the sainthood- these ordinary people who have done the most ordinary and simplest things received the eternal reward- May their prayers help us walk in their foot steps!

Posted at 23:09h, 08 AprilThis is beautiful. Reading this “unknown friend,” I could not help but think of Capt. Mbaye Diagne who saved many lives in Rwanda during the genocide. You will find this inspiring. “A good man in Rwanda” https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/special/2014/newsspec_6954/index.html
