Light Pollution

Source: itunes.apple.com

dark is old

we’ve done that

move on

get over it.

we’ve got lights

and switches

and a grid

to put to rest

our shadows

and our Catholic-flavored

scab-picker guilt

that shuffles through

sombrous hallways

dragging heavy purple

bags under its eyes.

YAWN!

let it go

hug a street lamp

SIN is acronym

for

Stupid Imposed Nothing

a churchy fiction

a relic

a dust-bunny

left to live and breed

too long under the loveseat.

light is might and right

and cheap

100% reliable, desirable, applicable

day or night.

What’s that?

            What?

Night?

It’s the bit that used to break up day,

when you had to proceed slowly,

sometimes forced to touch to move.

Don’t worry, they’ve pulled it

from the shelves.

The company went belly up:

bad sales team

lousy product

couldn’t find a niche.

We got light, all right.

Why dream when you can see?

We haven’t lost a thing

except a little black,

which is perfectly fine

because deep down

everybody wants to be white,

right?

Light?

How on earth could it be hurting us?
