Powerful Prayer

Source: gardensta.com

Speckled sunlight sits on the window sill

lighting up a room in disarray.

Scattered papers

speak of plans gone awry

at a moment’s notice

shoved aside

now stale and sour.

Plans pickled in patient waiting

poke through the ruffles of yesterday

and I’m called to pray.

In silence I sigh softly

as my mind, eyes, and tongue

reach out to a God

who is the friend of silence.

I see things anew

and listen to the murmurs

of heart to heart

receiving, giving

thoughts flowing with energy

uniting God and me

in active caring.

Confidence complete and constant

floods the soul

so recently caught in anguish

born of worldly worries,

and peace cradles me

rocking me back and forth

lulling me into a calm

that only the God of mystery

can gift me.

Sunshine bursts into the room

and a perpetual prayer

rises like incense

and perfumes the air

with the scent of surrender.
