Earth Wisdom

Source: Brendan McManus, SJ

The greens of summer fade,

Annuals wilt and die.

Autumn glory flies

Too quickly by.

Then winter returns to blanket the ground,

Its white protection will nourish

Throughout nature’s sleeping darkness.

Each spring we celebrate

The resurrection of creation,

Renewal and hope fills our hearts

As we witness the Canadian seasons

Reflecting the cycle of life.

This irreplaceable earth expects

Our reuse, recycling and conservation

Or future generations will be robbed

Of the bounty given by God.

A clothesline, washing dishes by hand,

And taps turned off quickly –

Will surely help the cause!
