Rounding Off

Lord,

you’ve caught me out

cutting corners.

I confess it’s true.

But, you see, I’m tired

so tired of life

within this square-earth conspiracy

fretting always

of falling off, or worse,

of not fitting tightly in

the box in which all the blocks

were bought.

I’d rather live in a bowl of marbles

than in a cage of cubes.

So pardon my incessant filing

rounding off my prison.
